Today was both busy and incredibly rewarding. After getting off work, I had the opportunity to meet Dexter Rowe Band, his merchandise coordinator, and the event management team. We spent time discussing the upcoming event—our goals, expectations, and all the important details that help bring a great show to life.
Following our meeting, they graciously invited us to go sit down and eat. Over an excellent meal, we took the time to truly get to know one another, sharing stories and learning about each other’s backgrounds. The conversation flowed so easily that we probably could have talked for hours, but they eventually had to head back home to Texarkana.
While we were together, I shared a few personal stories to provide context for some of my songs, including the one I recently posted on social media about the red cardinal that appeared on my porch at Christmas—right at the perfect time, when it was needed most. Interestingly, shortly after that conversation, Dexter asked about a specific song we might consider performing together. What made the moment even more special was that less than 24 hours earlier, I had been saying how incredible it would be to collaborate on that exact same song.
As if the timing wasn’t already meaningful enough, his merchandise coordinator handed me her business card so I could reach out later for merchandise ideas—and, to my surprise, it featured a red cardinal. She loves them as much as I do. Moments like that feel like gentle confirmations that I’m exactly where I’m meant to be.
Paul and I are back home now, gearing up for a practice run ahead of the concert. Dexter, if you happen to read this, it was truly a pleasure getting to know all of you. We’re excited to see what comes from this collaboration—and we’re ready to knock it out of the park.
Winnsboro, Texas… are you ready?
